Coalitions and Partners
Alliance for Full Participation (AFP) is a formal partnership of leading organizations serving the developmental disabilities field that share a common vision: To help create better and more fulfilling lives for people with developmental disabilities. NACDD is a founding partner.
Alliance to Prevent Restraint, Aversive Interventions and Seclusion (APRAIS) consists of eighteen national organizations, and was established in 2004 by leading education, research and advocacy organizations to protect children with significant disabilities from abuse in schools, treatment programs and residential facilities.
Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) is a membership organization that supports and promotes a national network of university-based interdisciplinary programs. Network members consist of: 67 University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), funded by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities (ADD); 39 Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) Programs funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB); and 19 Intellectual and Developmental Disability Research Centers (IDDRC), most of which are funded by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute for Child Health and Development (NICHD).
Collaboration to Promote Self Determination (CPSD) was founded in 2007 and is committed to leading and implementing a campaign focused on ensuring that every adult age 18 and older living with intellectual, developmental and cognitive disabilities have the opportunity to lead an independent life. 15 national disability organizations are members including NACDD.
Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) is a coalition of approximately 100 national disability organizations working together to advocate for national public policy that ensures the self determination, independence, empowerment, integration and inclusion of children and adults with disabilities in all aspects of society.
Disability Policy Collaboration (DPC) focuses on legislative and legal supports to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families. The Disability Policy Collaboration interacts with Congress and the Administration to meet the goal of improving the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families. NACDD is a member.
Easter Seals ‐Family Support Training Grant NACDD has partnered with Easter Seals as a subcontractor and will provide recruitment and dissemination support to identify and engage participants Family Support Training. NACDD will use its networks to disseminate marketing information to its membership about the project and its events. The Family Support Training Project is a grant provided by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities’ Projects of National Significance. This national‐scope project seeks to address the challenge of empowering family members and their children with developmental disabilities through training, information sharing, program and system navigation, and leadership development. These efforts will help family members be more informed about local resources, be empowered to take on leadership roles, and contribute to systems change efforts.
National Disability Rights Network (NDRN) is the nonprofit membership organization for the federally mandated Protection and Advocacy (P&A) Systems and Client Assistance Programs (CAP) for individuals with disabilities. Collectively, the P&A/CAP network is the largest provider of legally based advocacy services to people with disabilities in the United States. Through training and technical assistance, legal support, and legislative advocacy, the
National Disability Rights Network works to create a society in which people with disabilities are afforded equality of opportunity and are able to fully participate by exercising choice and self-determination.
