Technical Assistance for DD Councils 2003-2006 RFP # 233-03-0038 The Technical Assistance contract is funded by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities and focuses specifically on the technical assistance component for the State Councils on Developmental Disabilities. Through the systems change, capacity building and advocacy efforts of Councils, the purpose of the technical assistance contract is to enhance the Council network by providing technical assistance to State Councils on Developmental Disabilities. Technical assistance covers a wide array of training, consultation, information dissemination, best practices, capacity building and related activities. Technical assistance through the contract is based on not only providing uniform information and materials for all State Councils on federal regulation and policies but program improvement information based on each Council’s unique needs at their state level. There are a variety of activities conducted under the Technical Assistance Contract which is funded by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities. Individual Councils have the opportunity to request technical assistance on issues that are of specific importance and need specific to their Council. Occasionally, Councils will come together to form a Roundtable to discuss a particular issue that is of importance to several Councils. An annual Technical Assistance Institute is held for the sharing of information for Council Executive Directors, Staff and Members. Institute topics are around information that Councils need from the Administration on Developmental Disabilities in addition to information that Councils want from the Administration on Developmental Disabilities. Web-based guides and information guides are a component of the TA Grant. An Executive Director Web Guide and Information Guide have been developed as well as a web guide and information guide for newly appointed Council Chairpersons is currently in development. Quarterly Teleconference calls are held on topics of interest by Councils. NACDD operates a list-serve that allows for timely responses to topical information requests between Council members and staff.
